About Anemometer, Cup Counter

The instrument has a cup wheel consisting of three conical cups in a horizontal plane. The cup wheel spindle is of stainless steel and connected worm gearing to a revolution counter mounted in a water proof housing. By observing the counter reading at the beginning and end of any period of interest the average wind speed during the interval can be calculated. The counter observing window is sloped to permit easy reading when mounted on the mast

Robust Outdoor Wind Measurement

Engineered for durability, this cup counter anemometer features weatherproof construction with aluminum cups and a stainless steel shaft. Its powder-coated finish and IP54 ingress protection make it suitable for extended outdoor use in a variety of climates and conditions. Reliable at humidity levels of 0 95% RH, it excels in both professional meteorological stations and industrial sites.

Accurate and Efficient Design

The anemometer delivers rapid and accurate wind speed data, beginning measurements from as low as 0.2 m/s up to an expansive 60 m/s. With a direct-read mechanical counter and a quick response time of under one second, it is optimized for real-time monitoring. This manual device offers 2% full-scale accuracy, ensuring trustworthy data collection wherever precise wind measurement is required.

FAQs of Anemometer, Cup Counter :

Q: How does the cup counter anemometer measure wind speed?

A: The anemometer uses three balanced aluminum cups attached to a rotating assembly. As wind moves the cups, the rotation rate is mechanically counted by the direct-read counter, giving an accurate measurement of wind speed.

Q: What environments is this anemometer suitable for?

A: This device is ideal for outdoor applications such as meteorological stations, industrial monitoring, and research projects, thanks to its IP54 weatherproof rating, powder-coated finish, and resistance to humidity ranging from 0 to 95% RH.

Q: When should I choose a mechanical cup counter anemometer over an electronic model?

A: Opt for this mechanical model when you need wind speed data in remote or power-limited locations. It requires no electrical supply, is robust in harsh environments, and is easy to maintain.

Q: Where is the best location to mount the anemometer?

A: For the most accurate wind speed readings, mount the anemometer on a flange-type base at a height and spot free from wind obstructions, commonly on masts or rooftops where air flow is unobstructed.

Q: What is the process for reading and resetting the mechanical counter?

A: Simply observe the direct-read mechanical display to get the wind speed or cumulative count. For models with a reset option, follow the manufacturers instructions for manual reset. No special tools or power are needed.

Q: How is the anemometer maintained for long-term use?

A: Routine maintenance includes inspecting the rotating cup assembly for debris, ensuring the shaft rotates freely, and cleaning the exterior as needed. Its rugged weatherproof construction minimizes the need for frequent servicing.

Q: What are the main benefits of using this particular anemometer?

A: Key benefits include reliable manual operation without electricity, high accuracy (2% full scale), wide measurement range, rapid response, and robust, weather-resistant construction, making it highly suitable for diverse outdoor applications.
